We create community for the black and brown professional collective in the Greater Harrisburg Area, and we empower professionals of color to identify what they need to thrive within the community.
About This Cause
The YPOC was founded in 2016 to address the unique and specific needs facing professionals of color in Central Pennsylvania. Every decade more young professionals of color move out of than move to the Greater Harrisburg area. We empower professionals of color to identify the resources they need to thrive in the community, we create safe social spaces for professionals of color to relax and have fun! We stimulate growth and development for every member and the surrounding communities that they inhabit.
The purpose of this organization is social and communal. We bring people out of their homes and into the city to have fun, build new networks, and serve the community. We are serious about building connections through introducing members to like-minded entities in business, industry, education, and civics. We aim to bring value to local area businesses by retaining young black and brown professionals over longer periods of time. This is the future of business enterprise and commerce for Central PA.

Our Impact
Thanks to your donations, YPOC has been able to adopt 27 classes through our Adopt-A-Classroom campaigns. This year our adopt-a-classroom endeavored to raise money for 20 classrooms! We have already raised enough money for all 20 classrooms thanks to your generosity, and upped our goal to 30 classrooms! We are less than $1000 away from this new goal!
We are currently looking for volunteers to help out in our classrooms for this school year. If you would like to volunteer your time to help the teachers and children in the classrooms, reach out through the Contact Us page or email us at [email protected]!
We also enjoy supporting local businesses in Harrisburg! Whether it's hosting our regular events at one of these locations or coming together to go to one of the many events that take place in Harrisburg, we want to help bring awareness and familiar faces to all of the great things this city has to offer!
